Myeongdong or Gangnam for a First Seoul Trip?
Both areas work, but they produce very different daily travel patterns.
Myeongdong is usually easier for a first trip focused on central Seoul, palaces and classic sightseeing. Gangnam makes more sense when your plans are concentrated south of the river or you prefer its nightlife and commercial districts.
Think in daily travel time
A hotel can be excellent but still be inefficient if most of your attractions sit on the other side of the city. Map your first three days before choosing the neighborhood.
Airport access is only one factor
Your arrival transfer matters once. Your hotel location affects every day. Choose the area that reduces repeated cross-city travel.
